Dialogue as an underestimated tool in peacebuilding
Steinar Bryn will present the essence of the Nansen Dialogue methodology and tell the story of the results they have accomplished in the Western Balkan. Mr. Bryn will furthermore share his experiences from the Shared Society project in Israel, which is focusing on how people in conflict can share the same society. A group from Kosovo is participating in this project.
Steinar Bryn (b. 1954) has graduated from the University of Wisconsin (BA, MA) and obtained a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Minnesota. He has been a student, teacher, researcher and acting principal at the Nansen Academy in Lillehammer, Norway. During the last 17 years he has developed and supported the Nansen dialogue centers in the Balkans. Mr. Bryn is responsible for the planning and implementing of inter-ethnic dialogue seminars in Lillehammer and in the Western Balkans.
Steinar Bryn has been continuously linked to the Nansen Academy since 1989 as the head of Nansen Dialogue Network.
Reunion (10 Years After the War) (1989) – documentary film, where old friends from both sides of the conflict over Kosovo met again after being separated by war. Although film gives an insight into this conflict, it has a much wider relevance to conflicts in many other places, past and present.
